IMG_1641I am a big smoothie drinker and this one is a new favorite. It is the perfect treat when you want something sweet, but nothing too indulgent. Nothing too indulgent is just what I want when the holidays are over!

The bananas and dates make this creamy and sweet. The flax and walnuts give it a delicious nuttiness. My toddler loves this smoothie and could probably drink the whole pitcher by himself!

IMG_1651I like adding some grassfed gelatin powder to my smoothies. If you are interested in using gelatin as a protein powder, be sure to get the green kind from Great Lakes. It dissolves great in cold things and has no detectable flavor! I love using this as a protein powder because it provides essential collagen and essential amino acids, without any additives like other protein powders. You can read more about the benefits of gelatin powder here.

Just tried this today and it was really tasty. I added some honey for sweetness but I think this depends on how ripe your banana is. Also I didn’t have walnuts on hand, but pecans worked great!

Found this last week via the ’41 Paleo breakfasts that aren’t eggs’. I’ve already made it several times! Husband and toddler approved! I’ve added half an avocado and cinnamon the last couple of times. Deeeee-wishus (as my 2 year old says). I realize this is an older post but thought you might like to know who keeps hitting up this page 😀
